RE: Temporary Change of Lunch Time
Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing to inform you that the school will be changing the time of the lunch break temporarily for approximately four weeks during the summer term. The rationale for changing the time of lunch is to ensure that all Year 10 and Year 11 pupils are not disturbed when sitting their GCSE examinations.
All morning examinations start at 9.00 am and all afternoon examinations start at 1.00 pm. The current school lunch time is set between 1.15-2.00 pm. All pupils sitting GCSE examinations this summer will be located in the sports hall, gym and other areas of the school and it is very difficult to keep these areas of the school quiet during a lunch time. We have previously changed the time of the lunch break during the summer examination period to ensure that all pupils are given the best opportunity to succeed in their examinations. We will have an earlier lunch break between 12.10-12.55 pm, which will ensure that all afternoon examinations are not disrupted by the unavoidable noise around the school during the lunch break.
The change of the lunch break will start on Thursday 16th May and will continue until Monday 17th June. We will revert to the current school lunch time from Tuesday 18th June.
