Monday 23rd May 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to inform you that following a request from Year 11 pupils we have updated the arrangements for the last day when Year 11 pupils will be together as a cohort. On Friday 27th May, Year 11 pupils will be sitting their Chemistry Unit 2 examination during the morning. Following the examination pupils will return to their timetabled lesson. At the start of lesson 3 pupils are invited to come together to reflect on their time at Pontarddulais Comprehensive School and if they wish to carry out the long-held custom of signing each other’s shirts/jumpers as a memento of their time spent here. Pupils will need to bring in a spare white polo shirt or red school jumper if they wish to get them signed. Pupils must not get the shirt they are wearing signed as they will need this for their remaining exams.

Following the morning exam all Year 11 pupils will be permitted to leave the school site from 12.10 pm if they have not got a lesson in the afternoon for a remaining examination. However, we will provide lessons as normal during lessons 4 and 5.

After half-term pupils will no longer follow their normal timetable, so should only attend for their examinations. If needed we shall accommodate those pupils who have morning and afternoon examinations and would wish to remain in school. School transport will still be available at the start and the end of the school day.  Pupils are required to be in full uniform whenever they are on school site. As previously explained there are a raft of revision resources to support your child to independently prepare for their examinations, with exam timetables and guidance here: https://pontcomp.co.uk/pupil-area/. Welsh Government have also published help and guidance on all things exam related here:  https://gov.wales/power-up

As a school we would like to thank you for your continued support over the last five years, particularly during the challenges of the last two. We also look forward to celebrating your child’s time at Pontarddulais during the prom on Friday 24th June 2022, at the Village Hotel, Swansea.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Christopher Mitchell
Care, Support and Guidance Coordinator
