¡Hola! Spanish is introduced halfway through Year 8 here at Bont. Spanish the second-most widely spoken language in the world (after Mandarin Chinese), with over 400 million native speakersand official status in a staggering 21 countries, it’s such a useful language to know!
Year 8 Topic – Introduction to Spanish
Module 1: ¡Hola! – Greetings, age and birthday, family and descriptions
(Pupils then choose one language to continue with for year 9)
Year 9 Topics
Module 2: La Cultura – Food and drink, film study El Mejor Verano de Mi Vida
Module 3: Mi Vida – Sports and hobbies, school subjects, opinions, newsletter DCF task
Module 4: Las Vacaciones- Holiday destinations, holiday activities, Spanish festivals
GCSE Spanish (Option Subject from year 10)
We cover 18 different topics under the three broad themes of: Identity and Culture, Wales and the World, Current and Future Study and Employment. You will be examined in the 4 key skills areas: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking (each worth 25% of your final grade).

Spanish revision Wednesdays Week 1 and Thursdays Week 2 – 3pm to 4pm.
