Welcome to the Geography Department. In year 9, you will study a variety of topics across 3 broad themes:

Autumn term – Enquiry, diversity, and impact of actions-Exploitation of people and the environment. In this theme, you will learn about the exploitation of people in Brazil through studying the causes and effects of poverty, crime and deprivation surrounding life in the favelas. You will then learn about the exploitation of the Amazon Rainforest, the reasons behind deforestation, the effects on our planet and why it is so difficult to stop.

Spring term – Understanding of place-Our dynamic world. This theme is all about plate tectonics. You will learn about continental drift theory and study the causes and effects of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis.

Summer term – Taking action, diversity, and stewardship-We are the future. This theme looks at the greatest challenged we are currently facing as a human race and for the future of our planet. You will learn more about the plastics problem, climate change, fast fashion and the debate surrounding meat Vs plant-based diets.
