25th May 2021

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope you and your family are well. Prior to pupils return to school for the summer half-term, I am writing to you as a reminder of some of our policies in relation to uniform and jewellery.

Uniform

Since September 2020 we altered what we have classed as acceptable school uniform, which differs from our current school uniform policy. The reason for the temporary change was to mitigate against transmission of COVID- 19 both in school and at home. Pupils have been allowed to wear a coat/jacket in class as windows  have been opened to provide ventilation, however pupils are only permitted to wear their school jumper and not any other form of sweatshirt or hooded top.

From June 8th the wearing of coat/jacket in class will not be allowed. Now that we are moving from spring into summer the classrooms can be kept at an appropriate temperature whilst achieving ventilation in the classrooms.

We now allow pupils to wear their PE kit into school as part of the summer term uniform. Please be aware that the PE kit does allow for either the black badged Pontarddulais shorts or jogging bottoms/leggings to be worn. Jogging bottoms/leggings must be the school badged ones available to purchase from Bergoni or plain black.  Full details of the school’s uniform policy can be found here: https://pontcomp.co.uk/uniform/

Footwear

Our school policy regarding footwear has not changed and we continue to allow pupils to wear black, leather and polishable shoes/trainers. In addition, pupils can wear suitable trainers that they would wear for PE lessons if they are wearing their PE kit. Canvas trainers such as Converse or Vans are not suitable for PE lessons and therefore are not permitted under the uniform policy.

Jewellery

The school policy regarding jewellery has not changed as a result of the current pandemic. Pupils are allowed to wear a watch and a single stud in each earlobe, no other jewellery is allowed. If a pupil fails to follow these rules, items of jewellery may be confiscated and kept in the school office to be collected by a parent/carer.

Thank you for your continued support in ensuring the excellent standards in our school are maintained in these challenging times. If you have any issues in relation to uniform, please contact your child’s form tutor, or Progress Manager, in the first instance. If you have a more specific query, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Christopher Mitchell
