Year 9 Options

Tuesday 12th January 2021

Dear Parent/Carer,

Re: Year 9 Options

Following the letter that was sent out in December, I would like to provide an update on some of the changes that we have made to the school calendar to support your child during the options process. We will be launching our Virtual Options Evening as planned on Monday 18th January.  On the website you will have access to a wide range of information that will help your child decide upon their GCSE/vocational options for Year 10 and 11. Please click here to access the information below (the links will not work until 18th January):

  1. Options booklet and subject videos – the options booklet and subject videos will provide information about each subject that your child will be able to choose to study.
  2. Options process presentation – this will provide details of key dates; an overview of the key stage 4 curriculum; and information of who to speak to if your child needs help or support during the options process.
  3. Options form – please click here to complete the online options form. Your child must select three options only from the list of subjects. The form must be completed by Wednesday 24th

Interim Reports and Parents’ Evening

You will receive your child’s interim report on Monday 8th February. If any teachers need to speak to you regarding your child’s progress they will notify you on the report. Unfortunately, we are unable to hold our subject based parents’ evening at the school this year. However, if you have any questions regarding a specific subject or if you wish to speak to any of your child’s teachers please contact the school and ask to speak with the relevant teacher. If the teacher is unavailable when you call, they will call you back at the earliest opportunity. Time has been set aside for the Year 9 parents’ evening after school on Monday 22nd February and teachers will use this time to return any calls to parents or carers if they need to.

If you have any questions in relation to the options process please contact the school.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. A. Owens

Deputy Headteacher
