Year 9 Virtual Options Evening

Thursday 3rd December 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

Year 9 Virtual Options Evening

To support your child in choosing their optional key stage 4 subjects we will be launching a virtual options information evening on Monday 18th January. Unfortunately we will not be able to hold the options evening at the school due to the current restrictions with large gatherings. However, all of the information you will need to help your child decide upon their options will be accessible on our school website. Through the school website you will have access to the following information:

  1. Options booklet – this will provide information about each subject that your child will be able to choose to study. You will be able to see how each subject is assessed and what topics your child will study during the two-year course.
  2. Options form – there will be a link on the website that will take you to the options form. Your child will need to select three options from the list of subjects. The form needs to be completed by Monday 1st
  3. Options presentation – the presentation will provide details of the options process including key dates; an overview of the key stage 4 curriculum; and information of who to speak to if your child needs help or support during the options process.
  4. Subject videos – short videos for each subject will be available. Teachers will provide an overview of the subject and will discuss units and topics that will be covered during the course.

Following the options evening we would usually hold a subject based parents’ evening at the end of January to give you the opportunity to speak to your child’s teachers. Unfortunately will will not be able to hold the parents’ evening in January. However, if you have any questions regarding a specific subject or if you wish to speak to any of your child’s teachers regarding their progress please contact the school and ask to speak with the relevant teacher.

If you have any questions in relation to the options process please contact the school.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. A. Owens
