27th April 2020 – Resources Update
Here’s a quick update with some news.
Bont News Update
Lack of PPE is in the news on a daily basis. I’m sure you will be pleased to hear that the school has donated safety goggles to NHS front line workers (thanks to science & technology area) and gowns/aprons (thanks to STF) to a local special school.
Mr Jones has downloaded a template for PPE equipment and will continue to use the 3D printers to produce as much PPE as possible over the next few weeks.
So far, 20 sets have been delivered to Llys-Y-Tywysog in Grovesend, 20 more to the Hollies in Pontarddulais and another delivery for Llys Gwyn. Each piece of PPE takes an hour to print and a further 30 minutes to cut and shape the acetate sheets.

Where possible pupils can print off a copy of the B1.1 booklet on Cells and movement across cell membranes and complete it using the 3 power points provided and additional assistance from the BBC Bitesize website links and Shaun’s Free Science lessons links and the year 10 Biology Revision Guides.
If printing is not a viable option pupils can access the booklet and write their answers on A4 paper or in an exercise/note book to evidence attempting the work.
A completed answer booklet will be posted on the Moodle Study Zone site from end of June onwards for pupils to check their answers against and make any corrections/ amendments to their understanding.
This will be a similar format for the first Chemistry (C1.1 The nature of substances and Chemical Reactions) and Physics (P1.1 Electric Circuits).

Wellbeing Section
Over the last week we have added a few more resources to the wellbeing section. There’s now a reading section with tips and support for reading at home.
The RSPB have identified a number of resources parents can deliver at home with their children for 4 to 11-year olds. Links have been placed under the wellbeing area.
