Year 11 Study Leave

2nd May 2018
Dear Parents/Guardians,

Year 11 Study Leave

Your child is entering the final and most important phase of their time at Pontarddulais Comprehensive School. This letter is to inform you of how we intend to work with you and your child in order for them to achieve their very best in their forthcoming GCSE examinations.

After school revision sessions will continue for the duration of the examination period. Please encourage your child to attend these sessions. We have also arranged ‘pre-examination revision sessions’ to supplement the after school session during normal school hours (pupils have been provided with this timetable).

For most pupils the first GCSE examinations will be on the 8th May (Numeracy GCSE). Every pupil has been supplied with an individual examination slip, which lists the details and dates of the examinations they will be sitting. This should have been checked and used to build their revision programme around.

Study leave will commence from Monday 4th June. Up to this date we will expect pupils to attend their normal lessons. Pupils must bring revision materials to lessons where the course has finished e.g. Welsh lessons and subjects with examinations early in the examination schedule. However, ‘pre-examination revision sessions’ will continue throughout the study leave period. Please be mindful that normal school uniform rules apply throughout the examination period and during the ‘pre-examination revision sessions’.

Please contact the school if you have any queries in relation to the above. Thank you in anticipation for your continued support.

Yours faithfully,

Mr. G. Rees
Deputy Headteacher
